A good overview of pregnancy and many great tips on how to be a thoughtful, supportive partner。 I especially appreciated the encouragement to get involved as early as possible (I never knew that so much happened in the first trimester。 Or that it can be so physically tough!) A bit too general and kind of cheesy in parts, but overall a helpful, interesting, enjoyable read。

This book is written as if it's a partner's guide to pregnancy for dummies。 It's helpful as a very simple weekly guide to your partner's pregnancy, but if you're wanting more than 4-5 paragraphs a week, you'll need to supplement this with other readings。 My biggest beef with it was that even though each week is very brief, it then has a breakout box with bullet points that merely repeats all of the information in the paragraphs, which seems intended for those too lazy to read the 4-5 paragraphs。 This book is written as if it's a partner's guide to pregnancy for dummies。 It's helpful as a very simple weekly guide to your partner's pregnancy, but if you're wanting more than 4-5 paragraphs a week, you'll need to supplement this with other readings。 My biggest beef with it was that even though each week is very brief, it then has a breakout box with bullet points that merely repeats all of the information in the paragraphs, which seems intended for those too lazy to read the 4-5 paragraphs。 If you're cool with learning the bare minimum or are reading this with some other material, it's fine。 。。。more

I would recommend this to any dad to be as it breaks down information by week, is not overwhelming, and gives helpful checklists and ideas

A great week by week guide with checklists。 It's not too thorough which is perfect for a handbook。 It's a good reference to have on the shelf。 A great week by week guide with checklists。 It's not too thorough which is perfect for a handbook。 It's a good reference to have on the shelf。 。。。more

I am not so macho I can't read a book on being a parent that isn't directed towards men, but I found this at a thrift store the same month I found out I was going to be a dad and picked it up。 There's not much in here you can't necessarily cobble together from the internet, but I like that it gives you actionable things to do each week (and, tellingly of how lacking I will be as a dad, I didn't do most of them; however, it was at least nice to have something written out for you that you could be I am not so macho I can't read a book on being a parent that isn't directed towards men, but I found this at a thrift store the same month I found out I was going to be a dad and picked it up。 There's not much in here you can't necessarily cobble together from the internet, but I like that it gives you actionable things to do each week (and, tellingly of how lacking I will be as a dad, I didn't do most of them; however, it was at least nice to have something written out for you that you could be doing if you had yourself together)。 。。。more

I know this is a dad's handbook and I did buy it for my husband, but I also read it because I wanted to see what kind of information the author put in it。 I really liked it because it was filled with facts, tips to make mom's life easier, and ways for dad to be helpful。 Sometimes I know guys feel like they want to help, but don't know what to do and us women don't always want to tell them as it feels like we're micromanaging them。 It was written in a short and sweet style with bullet points, whi I know this is a dad's handbook and I did buy it for my husband, but I also read it because I wanted to see what kind of information the author put in it。 I really liked it because it was filled with facts, tips to make mom's life easier, and ways for dad to be helpful。 Sometimes I know guys feel like they want to help, but don't know what to do and us women don't always want to tell them as it feels like we're micromanaging them。 It was written in a short and sweet style with bullet points, which helps when you're drowning in information and feeling overloaded。 Also if your attention span is lacking。 My husband was disappointed it didn't go into more medical details as he wanted a lot more information。 We picked up The Expectant Father for that and I also offered my copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting。 It's about a 1 inch thick book the length of your hand, but I feel like it had a lot of information in it。 Pro tip: read it one month at a time so you're mentally prepared for the next month and don't forget everything you just read。 The bullet points help with that too as a quick reference guide。 。。。more

A great book for new dads and dads-to-be! This book chronicles all three trimesters of pregnancy (as well as the fourth trimester post-partum) in quick, easily digestible week-by-week sections。 Each section is just two or three pages long, but full of great information and tips。 The voice is both friendly and suggestive with very few edicts, and there are a number of checklists, notes, conversation starters, etc throughout the text。 Also, by far the least machismo book for new dads I read during A great book for new dads and dads-to-be! A shortened version of “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” that I read with my husband。 He has a short attention span, and this book did the trick。

It’s better than reading nothing but overall not very good。 I’m sure you can find a much better book for first-time dads。 There is definitely some helpful information but also a lot of inaccuracies as well。 I didn’t care much for the author’s tone and personality either。 And was also too repetitive。 I wouldn’t recommend it。 Look for something better。

This was a gift for me from my wife's friend。 It is pretty much idiot proof, easy to read and been invaluable in prepping me for the big day。 The insight has given me a better idea of what my wife is going through and what to look after and ask during those important health visits。 This was a gift for me from my wife's friend。 It is pretty much idiot proof, easy to read and been invaluable in prepping me for the big day。 The insight has given me a better idea of what my wife is going through and what to look after and ask during those important health visits。 。。。more

So glad I read this book!👏👏👏As a first time dad to be I have no idea what to expect。 After reading this book, I don’t have it all figured out but I know where to find the answers when I need them。 🤙

Not a dude but really didn’t appreciate the weird sexualization of breasts and hyper focus on a pregnant person’s flat (or not flat) stomach。 I like to think that the men I know can read a book without being enticed by unrealistic expectations。

A good month by month handbook to live the pregnancy of your partner。 It's written in plain words and very practical: tons of checklists and advice on pregnancy and delivery logistics and how to support your partner during the 9 month process。 A good month by month handbook to live the pregnancy of your partner。 It's written in plain words and very practical: tons of checklists and advice on pregnancy and delivery logistics and how to support your partner during the 9 month process。 。。。more

Fun and helpful。 Found this more approachable than what to expect。 Recommend as a gift to all soon-to-be dads out there。

Helpful considering I didn’t know too much coming into it。

This book has been so helpful in a sea of new information for a first time dad。 Definitely recommend it!

Chris

A bit cheesy, but helpful。

Derrick Dubois

Not very in depth。 Written from a standard mom-dad perspective。 Lots of repeating advice week by week。 Still, helpful first book for the journey。

There's the saying, "women become mothers the moment they find out they're pregnant, and men become fathers when they hold their babies for the first time -- but there are nine months in between。" When the wife and I began this journey, I wanted to walk alongside her and be engaged throughout the process。 This book definitely helped with that by serving as a coach, advising and providing valuable insights along the way! Light and fun book with helpful hints to prepare for a partners pregnancy and fatherhood。 Having everything broken down by weeks makes it super simple to keep pace (if you don’t read it front to back immediately like have)。 I plan on going back and rereading through each week to remind myself of important notes。 Definitely recommend for future first time or once again fathers。

A nice week-by-week outline of what's going on with baby and mum。As always with these books, it's largely style over substance and a focus on the gruesome rather than the emotional and mental journey to fatherhood。 At least it doesn't use military references and read like a survival guide, I suppose。Ultimately it's accesible info with a fairly empathetic, if somewhat submissive male voice。One of the better ones in my fruitless search for a decent book for fathers-to-be。 A nice week-by-week outline of what's going on with baby and mum。As always with these books, it's largely style over substance and a focus on the gruesome rather than the emotional and mental journey to fatherhood。 At least it doesn't use military references and read like a survival guide, I suppose。Ultimately it's accesible info with a fairly empathetic, if somewhat submissive male voice。One of the better ones in my fruitless search for a decent book for fathers-to-be。 。。。more

Nice and simple and I think focuses on key things you need to know。 Easy to flip through for awareness on what to expect week by week and on to-dos。 Timelines for baby development in line with Bringing Up Bebe。

Best book for the first time dads。 Hands down!

The information in the book was great and I really think that the week by week information of how the baby changes and what to expect and do was spectacular。 The only reason I subtracted two stars is because his writing makes him sound like the average frat boy。 I was expecting more of a cerebral author to write about something so special as pregnancy, but maybe the amateurishness is where the broad appeal is for his book。 Either way, I’d suggest it for the information and if your brain is still The information in the book was great and I really think that the week by week information of how the baby changes and what to expect and do was spectacular。 The only reason I subtracted two stars is because his writing makes him sound like the average frat boy。 I was expecting more of a cerebral author to write about something so special as pregnancy, but maybe the amateurishness is where the broad appeal is for his book。 Either way, I’d suggest it for the information and if your brain is still 12 years old then I suggest it for his humor as well。 。。。more

I picked this book up for my husband as it was on sale on Amazon。。 we're not having a baby anytime soon, but in the next 2-3 years。 When it arrived, I sat down and read it, and I learned stuff about pregnancy that I didn't know previously that would happen to me。 It's definitely a great book for dads-to-be (though the advice they give sometimes will depend on the mom-to-be's personality - I know some of the stuff they suggested just isn't for me), but also a good read for the mom-to-be too。 I picked this book up for my husband as it was on sale on Amazon。。 we're not having a baby anytime soon, but in the next 2-3 years。 When it arrived, I sat down and read it, and I learned stuff about pregnancy that I didn't know previously that would happen to me。 It's definitely a great book for dads-to-be (though the advice they give sometimes will depend on the mom-to-be's personality - I know some of the stuff they suggested just isn't for me), but also a good read for the mom-to-be too。 。。。more
